릴리 잇 머신은 연약한 드림 팝부터 폭발적인 포스트 펑크를 넘나드는 한국의 5인조 밴드이다. 얼터너티브 록을 기반으로 포스트 펑크, 드림 팝, 슈게이즈 등 여러 장르들을 넘나들며 노래한다. 이상한 얘기들을 하며, 시끄럽게 소리치며 이것저것 먹는다.
릴리 잇 머신은 2023년 정규 1집 《우리는 불연소의 여름에 갇힌 채》를 기점으로 팀의 음악적 좌표를 리스너들에게 또렷이 각인시켰다. 슈게이즈와 포스트 펑크, 드림 팝, 스크리모의 결을 유기적으로 엮어내며 동시대 인디 신 안에서 밀도있는 자신들만의 음향적 영역을 구축한 바 있다. 시적 이미지가 선명하게 살아 있는 가사와, DIY 감각이 돋보이는 아트워크 및 영상 작업 또한 이들의 세계관을 뒷받침하며 음악 팬들의 이목을 끌었다.
최근에는 1집 발매 2주년과 50회 공연을 기념해 벨로주 홍대에서 열린 단독 공연 ‘완전연소(完全燃燒)’를 성료, 펄떡이는 에너지와 연극적인 퍼포먼스 등이 음원과는 또다른 매력을 준다는 평을 받았다.
릴리 잇 머신은 라이브 무대를 중심으로 화보 촬영, 인터뷰, 뮤니브 및 AoB Breakdown 경연 참여 등 활동 반경을 넓혀가고 있다. 현재는 afm laboratory와 함께 정규 2집을 준비 중이며, 올해 하반기 발매를 목표로 작업에 박차를 가하고 있다. 오는 4월에는 도쿄에서 개최되는 Tokyo Music Bridge 페스티벌 무대에 오르며, 국내를 넘어 해외로 활동 영역을 확장할 예정이다.
Lilly Eat Machine is a five-piece band from South Korea, moving fluidly between fragile dream pop and explosive post-punk. Rooted in alternative rock, their sound traverses genres such as post-punk, dream pop, and shoegaze, weaving them into a dynamic and ever-shifting sonic landscape. They tell strange stories, shout at full volume, and consume everything in their path.
The band firmly established their musical identity with their debut full-length album, [Eternal Amnesia and Cursed Doomers] (2023). Blending the textures of shoegaze, post-punk, dream pop, and screamo, Lilly Eat Machine has built a dense and distinctive sonic territory within the contemporary indie scene. Their work is further defined by vividly poetic lyricism, as well as artwork and visual projects rooted in a strong DIY ethos—elements that collectively shape the band’s unique world and continue to captivate listeners.
Most recently, Lilly Eat Machine celebrated the second anniversary of their debut album and their 50th live show with a headlining performance, Perfect Combustion, at Veloso Hongdae. The show was widely praised for its pulsating energy and theatrical intensity, offering a live experience that reveals a different dimension of the band beyond their recorded work.
Expanding their activities beyond the stage, the band has been involved in editorial shoots, interviews, and competitions such as Muniv and AoB Breakdown. They are currently working on their second full-length album in collaboration with afm laboratory, aiming for a release in the latter half of this year. In April, they will perform at the Tokyo Music Bridge Festival, marking a step toward expanding their presence beyond Korea and into the global scene.
